A shower curtain liner is almost certainly a must if you go with fabric. We suggest using a light or medium weigh fabric to avoid putting too much stress on the shower curtain rod. Also, get a fabric that will hold up well when moisture is present.

There are many ways to get custom shower curtains when you start with a plain shower curtain made from vinyl or plastic. Apply copies of photographs to the outer-side using waterproof adhesive. The same thing can be done with cartoon characters and cardboard cutouts. After the adhesive is completely dried, you can spray a clear protective coating over the area to help it all last longer.

Many families display a child’s artwork on the refrigerator. Well, you can do the same sort of thing on a plain shower curtain. Use a waterproof or highly water-resistant permanent marker and let the child draw or doodle. Be sure the child understands that this activity should only be done on parent-approved surfaces.

A permanent marker can also be used to make your own custom shower curtains by writing a few of your favorite quotes or words of wisdom. We saw this sort of thing done at a retirement party when people wrote well wishes and signed their name on a plain shower curtain that was to be given to the person retiring.
